My ex husband has been paying me at the end of every month without fail. As soon as he found out I was seeing a new guy a few months ago, he decided that he would mess me around from then onwards. He tells me that he has got no money in the bank, how can this be my problem? I have 3 young children between 2-8 years of age. He is under a court order until September and then after that we can either continue the same amount of money or he can choose to go through the CSA. The CSA is hell as it would be half the amount that I am getting now. Last month he got a mate to right a cheque out for me. Am sure he gave his mate the cash as there is no way you would borrow £800 from a mate to pay your child maintenance. My stomach is in knots every month wondering whether he will pay me late again. What happens if he doesn't pay me tomorrow? It is pay day. It is all very well and good to go back to a solicitor and demand court etc. but I haven't got that sort of money.

You should try out the Yahoo answers, UK version. Here in the US, you would have to get in touch with the child support services in your state, but I am not sure how that works in other places. Get in touch with the government agency that controls that sort of thing, and ask what your options are.

Under the CSA he would pay 25% of his pay after tax if that is half of what you are currently getting then he has at present only 50% of his pay to live off. As a single man, renting and paying for food travel etc, he will be finding it extremely difficult. His pay based on what you have said is 1600 a month take home. If his rent is 300 a month, council tax on top, food, bills etc. he probably has less than 100 pounds and thats before he sees his kids or less if he is paying your housing etc.
He has gone to the lenghts of borrowing money to keep paying you. I would think most people in your position would count themselves very lucky.
