A friend of mine plays poker online all the time and our arguement is that if you play a online tournament with a entry fee in the begining and there is no money exchanging on the table that it is not gambling he claims it is not gambling someone please break it down for me i say if you win money at the begining middle or win the whole tournament it is gambling all the way around either way i don't care cause i don't play i just want and need to know please and thank you

This obvioulsy depends on your personal definition of gambling. I believe that poker is a game that is predominately skill-based over time, so when I play i dont look at it as gambling. To me, gambling is something I wager in which there is no element of skill, like slots or something. Of course, other people have other ideas, as obviously, does the govt.

Since it's putting down money with only a chance of winning more, it sounds like gambling to me. All the exchanging of chips during the game is considered "exchanging money" because they represent your entry fee. But if you actually like playing poker, then maybe it seems worth it just to pay a little to get to play all day, whether or not you win. Basically if you're pissed that you didn't win and lost your entry fee, then it was gambling.
