I have the urinary birth defect hypospadias.
It was not diagnosed untill i was 16 when i realised i was different to others and went to the doctor.
Do i have a right to compensation as this is something that should have been noticed at birth and operated on at that early stage, but went unnoticed by someone, possibly the hospital staff where i was born.
Adult repair operation is risky and dangerous, this defect has caused me a lot of psychological distress and physical discomfort.
Does anyone know if i have a right to anything?
Please help me out.
Thanks.

I think you would need to go to a Lawyer who specialises
in medical claims for a correct answer.
Depends where you live and whether it is worth he cost of legal action.
Also how bad the hypospadias is.
Sometimes it is not worth the risk of surgery involved to correct minor defect.

Check with an attorney in your area.
It sounds to me like the statute of limitations would have run out by now.
Anybody can sue anybody. Winning is another story. If you lose - then you still have to pay attorney fee's & court costs, etc. If you win - the attorneys would get at least one third of any compensation received.

No you don't have a right to compensation, you can't turn around a claim NOW that it's causing your psychological and physical distress. Obviously it never bothered you before which is why it took you until you were 16 to figure out there was something wrong. The only reason it bothers you is because it's "different" than most everyone else. Being "different" is not grounds for a law suit. Sorry but it's not. Everyone is different in their own way.
Now you can sue if your hypospadias was caused by a poorly done medical procedure like circumcision. Sometimes the doctor screws up and cuts the wrong thing. But if this wasn't caused by a botched procedure there is no one to sue, other than God because it's not any doctors fault that you have this condition.
Are you circumcised? Because I find it VERY weird that you would be circumcised at birth and the doctor wouldn't bring this issue up to your parents. It would have been found at birth. And usually they use the foreskin as a way to repair the problem however they can use any grafted skin to do this they don't need to use the most sensitive part of the penis to cut off and repair it with lol.
Also talk to your parents, I can't imagine they went their whole lives with you and NOT notice something was abnormal, I mean this is a condition people tend to notice.
The adult surgery is no more risky or dangerous than the infant surgery. The only difference is that at a younger age it heals much better. Sometimes crap happens in life, sorry but that's just the way things go. If you think everything in life is going to be fair and just well you are in for big dissapointment. Yeah it sucks to have to get surgery as an adult but at some point you grow a pair and deal with it. I had a bad hernia surgery at 13 and had my doctors been paying more attention at birth the whole thing could have been avoided since it happened because of a birth defect. But I'm not going to get all pissed about it and try to sue them for not noticing. That's LIFE it happens. I had the surgery, gotten over the few weeks of healing and I'm fine. (my surgery was in the groin region as well)
Also why do you need to repair it. Trust me, you are your own worst critic. Now I don't know your personal life exsperience with this, and if it really does bother you then by all means get the surgery to fix it. Many adult men do. However if it's not causing you any physical problem why do surgery at all? I've known men that have it into adulthood and never get it fixed. It's not ugly looking by any means. It's just different. (I'm sure it would offer your partner some different stimulation as well). I think people should embrace things like this that make them different rather than get all upset about it. But like I said, if it bothers you then get it fixed, but if you can live with it and learn to be happy with yourself then there is no reason to do an unneccessary risky procedure.
If you want try talking to a plastic surgeon, he might give you a different opinion than a urologist would and might have a better surgical solution for you. Different specialists work differently so try that out and see what he thinks.
Don't let something like this bother you too much though. Things like this bother you way more than they bother other people. I get how this is not an enjoyable condition to have and feeling normal isn't a good feeling to have but if you can, try to see more positive than negative.

I really hope you come to a decision about this that makes you happy, and if you chose to get the procedure I wish you the best with it. (remember it only sucks while it's healing when it's over with you won't care anymore haha) You can always contact a laywer anyways and see what they have to say. I think they will tell you it's an unfortunate situation but it's of no fault to any medical professional.

It may be possible if you're under 18, and the hypospadias was caused by a botched circumcision, but you would have to consult an attorney.
Circumcision frequently causes complications such as this.
Circumcision is a fraud and a hoax.
A foreskin is not a birth defect; it is a birthright.
